Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 pint sour cream
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream shortening, sugar, and vanilla together.
  2. Beat in eggs one at a time.
  3. Add sifted flour, baking powder, and baking soda; mix well.
  4. Blend in sour cream until smooth.
  5. Pour half of the batter into a greased tube pan.
  6. Mix brown sugar, cinnamon, and chopped nuts to make the topping.
  7. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon mixture over the batter.
  8. Pour the remaining batter over the topping.
  9. Sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon mixture on top.
  10. Bake at 350°F for 50 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
