Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup margarine
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Cream margarine and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. Add egg, molasses, and vanilla; mix well.
  3. Sift dry ingredients (flour, soda, salt, ginger, cinnamon) together and gradually add to the wet mixture.
  4. Chill the dough mixture for at least 1 hour.
  5. Roll the chilled dough into balls using your hands.
  6. Dip each ball in sugar to coat.
  7. Flatten the coated balls on a cookie sheet.
  8. Bake at 325°F (165°C) until done, about 12 minutes.
