  • 1 egg
  • 1 c. beef broth
  • 1 Tbsp. marjoram leaves
  • 1 Tbsp. ground coriander or sage

Instructions

  2. Remove the meat from the beef broth and let it cool.
  3. Grind or grate the cooked meat.
  4. Mix flour, chopped onion, crushed marjoram, ground coriander or sage, and egg in a bowl.

Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider adding sautéed garlic or spices like paprika to the mixture. You can substitute beef liver with chicken liver if preferred, or use ground meats for a different texture. If you find the dough too sticky, add a bit more flour until it reaches a manageable consistency. Pairing with Rhett'S Favorite Casserole can elevate your meal.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the liver nippes hot, garnished with fresh herbs like parsley or chives for added freshness. They pair well with creamy mashed potatoes or a simple side salad for contrast. For a heartier meal, they can accompany Barbecued Beef And Beans, creating a satisfying feast.

Storage & Reheating

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, gently warm them in a pot with a splash of beef broth over low heat, stirring occasionally to avoid sticking. Avoid microwaving, as it can dry out the nippes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use frozen liver for this recipe?

Yes, frozen liver can be used, but make sure to thaw it completely before cooking. This ensures even cooking and better texture. Just be aware that freezing may alter the texture slightly, so fresh liver is preferred for the best results.

What if I don't have marjoram?

If you don’t have marjoram, dried oregano or thyme can be used as substitutes. They offer a similar earthy flavor. Alternatively, you could skip it entirely or use a blend of your favorite herbs to suit your taste.

How can I make this dish gluten-free?

To make liver nippes gluten-free, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend. Ensure that any other ingredients, like beef broth, are also gluten-free. You may need to adjust the liquid ratios slightly to achieve the right dough consistency.
