Macadamia Nut Chocolate Mousse
Rich, creamy chocolate mousse layered with crunchy macadamia nuts and a graham cracker crust, perfect for indulgent desserts or special occasions with a nutty chocolate twist.
Ingredients
- 1 cup graham cracker crumbs ⓘ
- 1/4 cup butter, melted ⓘ
- 1 (8 oz.) package cream cheese, softened
- 2/3 cup sugar ⓘ
- 1 teaspoon vanilla ⓘ
- 2 eggs, separated ⓘ
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted
- Pinch of cream of tartar ⓘ
- 1/3 cup sugar (for egg whites) ⓘ
- 1 cup well chilled whipping cream ⓘ
- 1 1/2 cups chopped Macadamia nuts
- 1 c. well chilled whipping cream ⓘ
Instructions
- Mix graham cracker crumbs and melted butter.
- Press the mixture into a 9-inch pie plate to form the crust.
- Bake at 350°F for 5 to 7 minutes.
- Cool completely before filling.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Separate the eggs; beat the egg yolks into the cream cheese mixture.
- Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips and add to the mixture.
- In a clean bowl, whip the chilled whipping cream until soft peaks form.
- Fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture.
- In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with a pinch of cream of tartar until soft peaks form, then gradually add sugar and beat until stiff peaks form.
- Fold the egg whites into the chocolate mixture gently.
- Chop the macadamia nuts and fold into the mousse.
- Pour the mousse into the prepared crust and chill for at least 2 hours before serving.
