Ingredients

  • 2 lb. ground beef
  • 2 c. canned tomatoes
  • 1 c. fine bread crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3/4 tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 1 1/2 tsp. finely chopped onion
  • 12 slices bacon
  • 3/4 c. sour cream

Instructions

  1. Mix together ground beef, 1 cup canned tomatoes, bread crumbs, egg, salt, pepper, oregano, and chopped onion.
  2. Form the mixture into 12 large meatballs, about 3 inches in diameter.
  3. Wrap each meatball with a slice of bacon, overlapping the bacon carefully.
  4. Place the bacon-wrapped meatballs in a large, flat baking dish with the overlapped bacon on the bottom.
  5. Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 45 minutes or until the bacon is crisp.
  6. Remove from oven and pour off excess bacon fat.
  7. Serve the meatballs with sour cream on the side or as a topping.
