Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground ham
  • 1/2 lb. hamburger
  • 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 small onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 1 1/2 cups canned pie apples
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Spread drained canned pie apples in the bottom of a loaf pan and pour maple syrup over them to cover.
  3. Mix ground ham and hamburger thoroughly.
  4. Combine bread crumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, and dry mustard in a separate bowl.
  5. Add the bread crumb mixture to the meat mixture and mix well.
  6. Pack the meat mixture over the apples, pressing firmly with your hand.
  7. Bake at 375°F for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  8. Drain off excess fat and allow the loaf to stand out of the oven for 10 minutes before unmolding and slicing.
