- Beat egg whites and cream of tartar in a large bowl until very stiff.
- In a separate bowl, combine egg yolks, sugar, water, maple extract, vanilla, cooking oil, flour, salt, and chopped nuts until well mixed.
- Gently fold the egg yolk mixture into the beaten egg whites using a rubber spatula, folding carefully to maintain volume.
- Pour the batter into an ungreased pan.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 1 hour and 15 minutes.
