Ingredients

  • 2 oz. unsweetened chocolate
  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 12 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Butter a 9-inch baking pan and set aside.
  3. Chop the unsweetened chocolate and melt it, then allow to cool.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. In a separate bowl, beat together the butter, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy.
  6. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  7. Stir in the melted chocolate.
  8. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  9. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and swirl with a knife to create a marbled effect.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs.
  11. Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
