Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb ground beef
  • 1/4 lb sausage
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1 Tbsp chopped peppers
  • 16 oz can tomatoes
  • 3/4 cup uncooked rice
  • 1 medium head cabbage
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 8 oz can tomato sauce

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef, sausage, chopped onion, salt, and chopped peppers until browned.
  2. Add chili powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, canned tomatoes, rice, and half of the tomato sauce to the meat mixture. Simmer for 10 to 15 minutes.
  3. Chop the head of cabbage and cook it in a separate pan until tender.
  4. Layer the cooked cabbage in a casserole dish, then add the meat and rice mixture on top, ending with the remaining meat mixture.
  5. Pour the remaining half of the tomato sauce over the top.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 to 25 minutes until browned.
