- Put ground beef and onion in a pan and brown.
- Add salt and stir.
- Melt butter or margarine in another pan.

- Place half of the sliced potatoes in a baking dish.
- Add half of the cooked meat, then half of the sauce.
- Add the remaining potatoes, meat, and sauce.
- Cover the baking dish.

- Remove cover and brown under broiler until browned, about 5 minutes.
