Ingredients

  • 3/4 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp butter or margarine
  • 1 Tbsp flour
  • 1 1/2 c milk
  • 2 c raw potatoes, sliced thin

Instructions

  1. Put ground beef and onion in a pan and brown.
  2. Add salt and stir.
  3. Melt butter or margarine in another pan.
  4. Add flour to the melted butter and stir until smooth.
  5. Gradually add milk, stirring constantly.
  6. Cook until the sauce thickens, stirring as it cooks.
  7. Place half of the sliced potatoes in a baking dish.
  8. Add half of the cooked meat, then half of the sauce.
  9. Add the remaining potatoes, meat, and sauce.
  10. Cover the baking dish.
  11. Bake at 350°F for 50 to 60 minutes.
  12. Remove cover and brown under broiler until browned, about 5 minutes.
