A hearty meat and potato casserole with tender steak, flavorful onions, and crispy potatoes, perfect for comforting family dinners and satisfying cravings.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. round steak
  • 3 Tbsp. flour
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/8 tsp. pepper
  • 2 small onions, sliced very thin
  • 3 Tbsp. Crisco
  • 2 c. water
  • 3 thinly sliced potatoes
  • salt

Instructions

  1. Melt Crisco in a skillet.
  2. Cut the steak into small cubes and dredge in flour seasoned with salt and pepper.
  3. Add the steak to the skillet and brown on all sides.
  4. Add the sliced onions and cook until tender.
  5. Transfer the steak and onions to a casserole dish.
  6. Sprinkle the flour, salt, pepper, and garlic salt over the mixture.
  7. Pour 2 cups of water over the ingredients.
  8. Cover the casserole and bake in a 350°F oven for about 50 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven and place the sliced potatoes on top.
  10. Sprinkle the potatoes with salt and paprika.
  11. Increase oven temperature to 450°F.
  12. Bake uncovered for an additional 30 minutes until potatoes are golden.
