Melva'S Chili

Ingredients
- 1/4 cup oil ⓘ
- 1 pound beef steak, cut into bite-sized pieces ⓘ
- 1 pound ground meat ⓘ
- 1 cup chopped onion ⓘ
- 2 cloves garlic or 1 teaspoon garlic powder ⓘ
- 3 cups beef broth or water ⓘ
- 14 oz can whole tomatoes, crushed ⓘ
- 6 oz can tomato sauce ⓘ
- 4 tablespoons chili powder ⓘ
- 1 to 2 cans red kidney beans ⓘ
Instructions
- In a Dutch oven, heat oil and quickly fry the beef steak and ground meat until tender.
- Add chopped onion and garlic, cooking until onions are tender.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, and beef broth or water.
- Simmer the mixture for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
- Add red kidney beans if desired, then simmer for another 30 minutes.
