Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 pound beef steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 pound ground meat
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic or 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 cups beef broth or water
  • 14 oz can whole tomatoes, crushed
  • 6 oz can tomato sauce
  • 4 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 to 2 cans red kidney beans

Instructions

  1. In a Dutch oven, heat oil and quickly fry the beef steak and ground meat until tender.
  2. Add chopped onion and garlic, cooking until onions are tender.
  3. Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, chili powder, and beef broth or water.
  4. Simmer the mixture for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.
  5. Add red kidney beans if desired, then simmer for another 30 minutes.
