Ingredients

  • 1 cup margarine
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs, separated
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • finely chopped nuts or coconut (optional)
  • any type jelly

Instructions

  1. Add margarine, brown sugar, egg yolks, and vanilla extract to a mixing bowl and mix thoroughly.
  2. Sift together flour and salt, then stir into the wet ingredients until well combined.
  3. Form the dough into small balls.
  4. Dip each ball into slightly beaten egg whites.
  5. Roll the coated balls in finely chopped nuts or coconut, if desired.
  6. Place on a baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.
