Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups spaghetti sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 12 large cabbage leaves
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme leaves
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. In a microwave oval baking dish, mix spaghetti sauce and sugar.
  2. Cover with plastic wrap, turning back one corner to vent.
  3. Microwave on High for 2 to 3 minutes or until bubbly; set aside.
  4. In a bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, parsley, thyme, and salt.
  5. Place cabbage leaves in a microwave-safe dish with water, cover, and microwave until leaves are soft and pliable, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Cut out the thick vein from each cabbage leaf if necessary.
  7. Place about 2 tablespoons of meat mixture on each cabbage leaf and roll up, tucking in the sides.
  8. Arrange the cabbage rolls in the prepared baking dish over the sauce.
  9. Pour the remaining sauce over the cabbage rolls.
  10. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and microwave on high for about 10 minutes or until heated through.
