Ingredients

  • 5 to 6 medium mirlitons
  • 1 bell pepper, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 small can mushroom gravy
  • 1/2 lb ground meat
  • 2 medium onions, chopped
  • 1 rib celery, chopped
  • 1 whole tomato, chopped
  • 1 lb peeled shrimp
  • Parmesan cheese
  • Seasoned bread crumbs

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut mirlitons into small cubes.
  2. Cook mirliton cubes with garlic, half of the onions, bell peppers, and celery for 25 minutes.
  3. Saute shrimp and ground meat with the remaining vegetables in 3 tablespoons of oil.
  4. Cook the shrimp and meat mixture for 20 minutes.
  5. Add the can of mushroom gravy to the mixture.
  6. Combine the cooked mirliton, chopped tomato, and seasonings with the meat and shrimp mixture.
  7. Cook the combined mixture for an additional 15 minutes.
  8. Season to taste before serving.
