Ingredients

  • 8 lb. small green tomatoes, quartered
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • water to cover tomatoes
  • 3 lb. brown sugar
  • 1 pint white vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon ground cloves

Instructions

  1. Soak the green tomatoes in salt water for 2 hours.
  2. Drain the tomatoes well.
  3. Combine brown sugar, white vinegar, cinnamon, and ground cloves in a pot.
  4. Add the drained tomatoes and seedless raisins to the mixture.
  5. Cook over a low flame until tender, about 30 minutes.
  6. Seal the hot mixture in jars for preservation.
