- Put potatoes, onions, and celery in a 2-quart saucepan but don't cover with water.
- While these are cooking, put salmon in a 4-quart saucepan.
- Lightly mash the salmon.
- Let the salmon simmer for 2 to 3 minutes, then add the quart of milk, can of milk, butter, salt, black pepper, ketchup, Texas Pete, and teriyaki if desired.
- Cook on low-medium heat until potatoes, onions, and celery have cooked down to almost no water, then mash lightly with a potato masher but not completely mashed.
- Add the cooked vegetables to the salmon mixture and bring just to a boil.
- Remove from heat and serve. Add optional potato flakes for thickness if desired.
