Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 sticks butter
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions

  1. Mix sugar, flour, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. In a saucepan, heat to boiling the butter, cocoa, and water.
  3. Add buttermilk to the mixture, then add all ingredients from the bowl.
  4. Mix well and pour into a greased and floured sheet cake pan.
  5. Bake at 400°F for 30 minutes.
  6. Put icing on the cake while hot, right out of the oven.
