Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup soft margarine
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup applesauce
  • 3/4 cup raisins

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Cut in margarine.
  2. Add molasses, egg, and applesauce. Beat well.
  3. Stir in raisins.
  4. Pour batter into a greased and floured pan.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 40 to 45 minutes.
  6. Turn out the cake and sprinkle with confectioners' sugar or glaze with lemon juice and sugar.
