Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup molasses
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup butter or Crisco

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients together and knead to a stiff dough.
  2. Shape or prepare the dough as desired and bake at 325°F until brown.
  3. Use dried fruit to stack or layer as desired.
  4. Sweeten the dried fruit and add spice and a little cinnamon for flavor.
