Ingredients

  • 1 lb. softened butter
  • 1 c. white sugar
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp. hot water

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter, white sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and eggs together.
  2. Add the baking soda dissolved in hot water to the creamed mixture.
  3. Stir in the flour, adding more with your hands if needed to form a dough.
  4. Divide the dough into 4 balls.
  5. Roll each ball into a flat surface to about 1/2-inch thick.
  6. Cut into shapes using cookie cutters.
  7. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 to 12 minutes until edges are golden.
