Tips & Substitutions

For a richer flavor, consider using natural peanut butter instead of regular. If you prefer a softer cookie, reduce the baking time by a minute or two. You can replace half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour for added nutrition. If you're out of margarine, unsalted butter works well too. Adding a pinch of salt can enhance the sweetness.

Serving Suggestions

These peanut butter cookies are perfect for an afternoon snack or dessert. Serve them alongside a glass of cold milk or a warm cup of coffee for a delightful pairing. For a fun twist, try them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to create a cookie sandwich. They also make a great treat at gatherings or when paired with Aunt Sta'S Simple Candy(Great To Make With Little Children!).

Storage & Reheating

Store leftover cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, you can freeze them in a zip-top bag for up to three months. When ready to enjoy, let them thaw at room temperature or warm them in the microwave for a few seconds for that fresh-baked taste.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use crunchy peanut butter instead of creamy?

Yes, you can absolutely use crunchy peanut butter for added texture. It will give the cookies a delightful crunch and enhance the peanut flavor. Just keep in mind that the cookies may hold their shape slightly differently, but they will still be delicious!

What can I substitute for eggs if I'm allergic?

If you need an egg substitute, you can use flaxseed meal or applesauce. For each egg, mix 1 tablespoon of flaxseed meal with 2.5 tablespoons of water and let it sit for a few minutes until it thickens. Alternatively, 1/4 cup of unsweetened applesauce works well too.

How can I make these cookies less sweet?

To reduce the sweetness of these cookies, consider cutting down on the granulated sugar or brown sugar by up to one-third. You can also try using a dark chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chip that contains less sugar. Balancing the sweetness will still provide you with a delicious cookie!
