Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup shortening
  • 3 well-beaten eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream together brown sugar, white sugar, and shortening.
  2. Add well-beaten eggs and mix well.
  3. Stir in vanilla extract.
  4. Sift together flour, soda, and cream of tartar, then add to the mixture.
  5. Stir in chopped nuts.
  6. Form the dough into rolls, cover, and refrigerate overnight.
  7. Slice the chilled dough and bake in a 400°F oven for about 7 minutes.
