Mom'S Split Pea Soup

Instructions
- Soak peas overnight.
- Drain them.
- The next day, saute onion and carrots in bacon fat until tender.
- Add ham bone, garlic salt, pepper, marjoram and water to the drained peas.
- Bring to boil. Reduce heat; cover.
- Simmer for 3 hours, stirring often.
- Remove ham bone; trim off meat and return meat to soup.
- Adjust seasoning.
- Serve with hot croutons.
