Ingredients

  • 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. pepper
  • 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/4 c. cider vinegar
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1 slice lemon
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/2 c. catsup
  • 2 Tbsp. liquid smoke
  • 2 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • spareribs

Instructions

  1. Mix cayenne pepper, pepper, prepared mustard, sugar, cider vinegar, and water in a saucepan.
  2. Add lemon slice and sliced onion to the mixture.
  3. Simmer the mixture for 20 minutes.
  4. Stir in catsup, Worcestershire sauce, and liquid smoke.
  5. Bring the sauce to a boil, then remove from heat.
  6. Place spareribs in a shallow baking pan.
  7. Bake the ribs at 450°F for 30 minutes.
  8. Drain excess fat from the pan and pour sauce over the ribs.
  9. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F and bake for an additional 45 to 60 minutes, basting with sauce occasionally.
