Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 4 heaping tablespoons Nestle chocolate
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup water
  • Frosting (recipe follows)

Instructions

  1. Sift the flour, sugar, and salt together and set aside.
  2. In a pot on the stove, melt the margarine, water, and chocolate together and bring to a boil.
  3. Pour the hot chocolate mixture over the flour mixture and stir by hand until thoroughly blended.
  4. Add the eggs and buttermilk, in which you have mixed the vanilla and soda, then mix thoroughly.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased 11 x 14-inch sheet cake pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 20 to 25 minutes.
  7. Make the icing and pour it over the hot cake before serving.
