Ingredients

  • 22 squares graham crackers
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 beaten egg yolks
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and sugar well; add the beaten egg yolks and beat thoroughly until blended.
  2. Stir the baking powder into the graham cracker crumbs.
  3. Add the milk and graham cracker crumbs alternately, blending thoroughly after each addition.
  4. Stir in the chopped nuts.
  5. Beat the egg whites until stiff and fold them into the mixture gently.
  6. Bake in two 8-inch pans in a moderate oven at 350°F (about 45 minutes).
