Tips & Substitutions

For a creamier texture, add a dollop of sour cream to the Ricotta mixture. If you prefer a leaner version, substitute turkey sausage for the Italian sausage. You can also use no-cook lasagna noodles for convenience. To add extra flavor, consider mixing in chopped spinach or sautéed mushrooms between the layers. Can I use different types of cheese in this lasagna?

Absolutely! Feel free to mix and match cheeses. For a sharper flavor, try using aged cheddar or provolone. You can also add ricotta with herbs for extra flavor. Just ensure the total amount remains similar to the original recipe for the best texture.

Can I make this lasagna ahead of time?

Yes, you can assemble the lasagna a day in advance and store it in the refrigerator. Just cover it tightly with foil to prevent it from drying out. When ready to bake, increase the cooking time by about 15-20 minutes, as it will be cold when you put it in the oven.
