Ingredients

  • 1 2/3 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 eggs

Instructions

  1. Put all ingredients except eggs in a bowl and beat until creamy.
  2. Add eggs and continue beating until well mixed.
  3. Pour the batter into a baking pan.
  4. Bake in a 350°F oven for 38 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
