Nona's Bow Ties are delightful fried pastries with a hint of lemon and vanilla, perfect for a sweet treat or dessert for family and friends.

Ingredients

  • 2 eggs
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 2 c sifted flour
  • 2 Tbsp vanilla
  • 1 tsp grated lemon rind
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • confectioners sugar

Instructions

  1. Beat together the eggs and sugar in a medium bowl until the mixture is light and fluffy.
  2. Stir in 1 1/2 cups of the sifted flour, vanilla, and grated lemon rind until blended.
  3. Shape the mixture into a ball.
  4. Roll out the dough and cut into bow tie shapes.
  5. Heat vegetable oil for frying.
  6. Fry the bow ties until golden brown.
  7. Drain on paper towels and dust with confectioners sugar before serving.
