Ingredients

  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • 2 cups unsifted flour
  • 1/2 cup butter or oleo, softened
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the sugar and flour; cut in the softened butter until the mixture is crumbly.
  3. Press half of the crumb mixture into the bottom of a greased and floured 9-inch baking pan.
  4. Stir the baking soda into the sour cream.
  5. Add the sour cream mixture, egg, and ground nutmeg to the remaining crumb mixture; mix well.
  6. Pour the batter over the crust.
  7. Top with chopped pecans.
  8. Bake for 25 to 40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Serve warm.
