Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups sifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cloves
  • 3/4 cup margarine, softened
  • 1/4 cup dark molasses
  • 3/4 cup quick oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Into a medium mixing bowl, sift together flour, baking soda, salt, cloves, ginger, and sugar.
  2. Add margarine, egg, and molasses to the dry ingredients.
  3. Beat until smooth and then stir in oats.
  4. Drop by level tablespoonfuls 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  5. Bake in a 375°F oven until lightly browned, about 8-10 minutes.
  6. Let stand for a minute before removing from the pan.
