Ingredients

  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. water
  • 1/2 c. salad oil
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 3/4 c. flour
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. soda
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1/2 tsp. cloves
  • 1/2 c. chopped nuts

Instructions

  1. Combine raisins and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in salad oil. Cool to lukewarm.
  2. Stir in sugar and egg.
  3. Add dry ingredients (flour, salt, soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves) and beat until well mixed.
  4. Stir in chopped nuts.
  5. Pour the batter into a greased baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 350°F for 20 minutes.
  7. Dust with confectioners' sugar before serving.
