A crunchy, sweet and nutty granola with toasted oats, seeds, dried fruit, perfect for breakfast or snacking, customizable with your favorite add-ins.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 5 or 6 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup wheat germ
  • 1 cup rolled wheat flakes
  • 1 cup sunflower seeds
  • 1 cup pumpkin seeds
  • 1 cup sesame seeds
  • 1 cup nonfat dry milk powder
  • 1 cup shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Pour liquid ingredients into a large roasting pan and heat in 250°F oven for 10 minutes or until mixture is warm and thinned; stir to blend.
  2. Remove the roasting pan from the oven and slowly add the dry ingredients (except fruit) to the liquid mixture in the pan.
  3. Stir until well blended.
  4. Spread evenly in the pan and return to the oven.
  5. Bake approximately 2 hours, stirring every 20 minutes.
  6. Granola should be golden brown.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool.
  8. When cool, add fruit, if desired.
