Ingredients

  • 2 large white onions, sliced
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon chopped parsley
  • 1/8 teaspoon basil
  • dash of red pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients except onions and heat until sugar is dissolved.
  2. Pour the hot mixture over sliced onions.
  3. Refrigerate in a covered container.
  4. Serve onion slices and some liquid on lettuce leaves.
