Ingredients

  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 cup butter or margarine
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups canned blackberries (heavy syrup)
  • juice from canned blackberries (as liquid for cake)
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour

Instructions

  1. Sift together the flour, cloves, cinnamon, and soda.
  2. Cream the butter or margarine and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
  4. Blend the mixture well.
  5. Add the dry ingredients gradually, mixing until smooth.
  6. Stir in the canned blackberries until the mixture is combined.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased Bundt pan.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 1 hour or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
