Open-faced hamburgers feature seasoned ground beef spread on bread, baked until cooked and toasted, then topped with melted cheese—perfect for a quick, flavorful meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground chuck
  • 2 Tbsp. evaporated milk
  • 2 Tbsp. catsup
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/4 c. finely chopped onion
  • 1/2 tsp. smoke flavor
  • 1/4 tsp. pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. salt

Instructions

  1. Mix ground chuck, evaporated milk, catsup, onion powder, garlic powder, chopped onion, smoke flavor, pepper, and salt together well.
  2. Using a fork, spread the meat mixture on slices of bread, Subway buns, or hamburger buns out to all edges.
  3. Place the prepared bread on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 10 to 12 minutes or until the meat is cooked through.
  5. Remove from oven and cover with slices of cheese.
  6. Return to the oven for a minute or two until the cheese melts.
  7. Serve immediately.
