Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • dash of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup chopped walnut meats
  • grated rind of 1 orange
  • 1 cup seedless raisins

Instructions

  1. Cream together the sugar, butter, eggs, and milk.
  2. Sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Add the sifted dry ingredients to the creamed mixture and mix thoroughly.
  4. Fold in the chopped walnut meats, grated orange rind, and raisins.
  5. Pour the batter into a tube pan and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30 to 40 minutes until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
