Ingredients

  • 2 sticks margarine
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 teaspoon soda
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Peel of 2 oranges, grated
  • 1 cup pecans
  • 1 cup dates
  • 1 cup flaked coconut

Instructions

  1. Cream together the margarine and sugar; beat in the eggs.
  2. Dissolve the soda in buttermilk.
  3. Alternately add the buttermilk mixture with the flour and salt into the creamed mixture.
  4. Mix in the grated orange peel, pecans, dates, and coconut.
  5. Pour the batter into a ring pan.
  6. Bake in a 300°F oven until done, approximately 60 minutes.
