Ingredients

  • 2 c. milk
  • 1 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 1/3 c. melted butter
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. sugar
  • 3 c. flour
  • 2 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1/2 tsp. soda

Instructions

  1. Scald the milk and then cool it to lukewarm.
  2. Put water in a large bowl and sprinkle in the yeast.
  3. Stir until the yeast is dissolved.
  4. Add the cooled milk, melted butter, salt, sugar, and flour to the bowl.
  5. Mix thoroughly with a rotary beater until the batter is smooth.
  6. Cover the bowl and let stand at room temperature overnight.
  7. When ready to bake, add the eggs and baking soda to the batter.
  8. Beat well to combine.
  9. Cook on a preheated waffle iron until golden brown.
