Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 3/4 cup canned pears, chopped
  • 1/2 cup pear syrup
  • 1/2 cup shredded Cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Mix thoroughly the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  2. Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients.
  3. In another bowl, combine chopped pears, pear syrup, shredded Cheddar cheese, and oil.
  4. Add the liquid mixture to the dry ingredients and stir until moistened.
  5. Turn the batter into a greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 55 to 60 minutes.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove and cool on a wire rack.
  8. Cool completely before slicing.
