Ingredients
- 3 c. all-purpose flour, sifted ⓘ
- 1/8 tsp. baking soda ⓘ
- 2 tsp. baking powder ⓘ

- 1 Tbsp. cinnamon ⓘ
- 1/4 tsp. ground anise seed ⓘ
- 1 tsp. ground cloves ⓘ
- 1/2 tsp. nutmeg ⓘ
- Grated rind of 1 orange ⓘ
- 1/2 c. butter, softened ⓘ
- 2 eggs ⓘ
- 1/2 c. light molasses ⓘ
- 1 c. chopped nuts ⓘ
- Confectioners sugar ⓘ
- 1/2 c. light molasses ⓘ
Instructions
- Sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, ground anise seed, ground cloves, and nutmeg.
- Stir in grated orange rind and chopped nuts.
- In a separate bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs and light molasses until well combined.
- Gradually stir the egg mixture into the dry ingredients to form a smooth dough.
- Roll the dough into walnut-sized balls and place them on a baking sheet.
- Bake in a 350°F (175°C) oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
- Remove from oven and roll in confectioners sugar while still warm.
