- Boil crabs as usual with salt, pepper, bay leaves, lemon, a few cloves, and crab boil.
- Clean crabs by removing backs and inedible parts.
- Break crabs in half and remove claws.

- Combine lemon (including rind), onions, celery, oil, and vinegar in a blender.
- Blend together until smooth.
- Pour the blended mixture over the crabs in the jar.
- Let stand overnight to coat and season, shaking occasionally.
