Ingredients

  • 3 c. sifted plain flour
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1 c. Crisco
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 5 Tbsp. very cold water

Instructions

  1. Cut shortening into flour and salt until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. Mix the beaten egg, very cold water, and vinegar together in a separate bowl.
  3. Add the liquid mixture all at once to the flour mixture.
  4. Mix quickly until the dough just comes together.
  5. Divide the dough in half and roll out each portion to fit your pie dish.
  6. Use as needed for double pie crusts, and refrigerate any unused portions.
