Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup softened margarine
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 1/2 cup (3 oz.) chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup coconut

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a 13 x 9-inch pan.
  3. Combine flour, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Beat at medium speed for 1 to 2 minutes.
  5. By hand, stir in the oats and coconut.
  6. Spread the dough into the prepared pan.
  7. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top.
  8. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until the center is soft.
  9. Cool before cutting into bars.
