Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 5/8 ounce package brown gravy mix
  • 2 1/2 ounces jar sliced mushrooms, drained
  • paprika
  • 2 tablespoons margarine or butter
  • 1 1/2 cups instant potato flakes
  • 1/3 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine 1 1/3 cups water and margarine.
  3. Bring to a rolling boil over medium-high heat; remove from heat.
  4. Add milk and potato flakes; stir to reach desired consistency.
  5. Set aside the mashed potato mixture.
  6. In a large skillet, brown ground beef and chopped onion; drain excess fat.
  7. Add gravy mix, 1/2 cup water, and drained mushrooms; cook and stir until thickened.
  8. Remove from heat; stir in sour cream and dill weed.
  9. Spoon the beef mixture into an ungreased 1 1/2-quart casserole dish.
  10. Top with the mashed potatoes.
  11. Sprinkle with paprika.
  12. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15 to 20 minutes or until thoroughly heated.
