Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup soft oleo
  • 1 3/4 cups sifted powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 egg
  • 1 cup nuts
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 2 1/2 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 teaspoon soda

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and shortening together; add the powdered sugar and continue creaming until well blended.
  2. Add the egg, vanilla, and almond extract to the creamed mixture and beat thoroughly.
  3. Sift together the flour, soda, and cream of tartar; gradually add to the wet mixture and mix well.
  4. Stir in the nuts.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  6. Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes.
  7. While still hot, roll the cookies in powdered sugar.
