Ingredients

  • 1 c. flour
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 7 Tbsp. cocoa (divided)
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 2 Tbsp. butter, melted
  • 3/4 c. chopped walnuts
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 1 c. packed brown sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. hot water
  • 1 c. heavy cream, sweetened and whipped or 1 pt. vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and 3 tablespoons of cocoa in a bowl.
  2. Add milk and melted butter, then beat until well blended.
  3. Stir in chopped walnuts and vanilla extract.
  4. Spoon the batter into a greased 2-quart baking dish.
  5. In a separate small bowl, combine the brown sugar and remaining 4 tablespoons of cocoa.
  6. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the dish.
  7. Pour hot water over the top carefully.
  8. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 35 minutes until the cake is set and the pudding is bubbly.
  9. Serve warm with sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
