Ingredients

  • 4 cups prunes, cut in pieces
  • 4 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon mace

Instructions

  1. Mix together brown sugar, 3 tablespoons of flour, and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the prunes in the prepared pan.
  2. Place the prune mixture in a greased and floured 8 x 8 x 2-inch baking pan.
  3. Combine the remaining ingredients (except for the melted butter) and pour this batter over the prune layer.
  4. Pour the melted butter on top of the batter.
  5. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 45 minutes until golden and cooked through.
