Prune Squares

Instructions
- Cook prunes, 3/4 cup sugar, and water together until tender.
- Sift flour, salt, and baking soda together.
- Cream butter, gradually adding 1 cup of sugar; beat well.
- Blend in dry ingredients.
- Stir in coconut.
- Press 3 cups of this mixture in the bottom and halfway up the sides of a greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
- Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes.
- Spread prune mixture over crust and sprinkle the rest of the crumbs over the top.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Cool and cut into squares.
- Top with whipped cream before serving.
